About
gruppe-aja is an architectural studio led by Alberte Hyttel, Julie Lecuelle, and Amalie Holm, founded in 2021. The practice works with used and leftover materials in landscape, new-build, and renovation projects.
The architectural process at gruppe-aja revolves around upcycling materials found on-site, in local streets, or within surrounding industries. We collaborate with recycling stations and material producers, dedicating our efforts to tracing, collecting, and analyzing the technical and aesthetic potential of materials that are considered waste in the commercial building industry.
Through design and care, we integrate the materials into an architectural project, giving both the materials and the project new value while keeping the material footprint minimal. Our methods embrace a process where neither the client, collaborators, nor the architect can predefine colors, materials, or building components. Instead of pursuing a fixed architectural outcome, the design continuously evolves in response to the resources available.
